On Saturday, July 23rd, the students visited a coffee plantation located an hour outside of São Paulo in the city of Jundiaí. Here, students learned the process of how coffee is made, as well as the history behind the coffee plantation. During lunch a few of the students met some of the local Brazilians and joined in a dance party!

Samba Lesson and Latin American Memorial and Museum
Today the students started out by learning how to dance Samba. Samba or "Semba", is a dance that originated in Africa and was brought over to Brazil by the slaves. Nowadays, Samba is commonly known by all Brazilians.
After Samba lessons, the students visited the Latin American Memorial and Museum were they learned about different Latin American cultures and saw an array of cultural artifacts.
